Why I created Mindfully Messy Life
In this first post, I want to share why I created Mindfully Messy Life and what inspired this space. Life can feel overwhelming. There is so much information, so many expectations, and so many things happening in the world that sometimes it is easy to forget the simple things: connection, understanding, and feeling seen.
I created Mindfully Messy Life because I want to create a space where people feel less alone. A place for reflection, curiosity, and connection.
Through my work as an occupational therapist, especially supporting children with ADHD and autism and their families, I learned how important it is to understand people instead of judging them. Through my own journey of moving from Germany to New Zealand, I also learned how challenging, eliciting and life changing a new chapter can be.
Both experiences showed me how much people need spaces where they can share, learn, and feel accepted.
For my readers, I hope this becomes a place where you feel seen and inspired. A place that gives you ideas, new perspectives, and maybe even a little bit of comfort.
Why now?
Maybe it is partly because of a little winter slump. I wanted to feel more inspired myself and focus my energy on creating something positive.
There is so much negativity in the world right now. While it is important to be aware of what is happening, I also believe we need spaces that remind us of kindness, growth, creativity and connection.
So what does “Mindfully Messy Life” actually mean?
Honestly, it feels like the title of my life.
I reflect a lot. I try to build routines. I care about staying connected with friends and family. I love learning about psychology, sociology, and feminism.
But I am also the person who always finds motivation for skincare while somehow struggling to remember brushing my teeth twice a day. (I know, it makes no sense)
Some days I read thoughtful articles about human behaviour. Other days I listen to dark romance audiobooks while doing paint by numbers, only to almost finish the picture and then forget about it until the colours dry out.
And that is exactly what this space is about.
A life that can be thoughtful and messy. Structured and spontaneous. Serious and playful.
A life that does not need to be perfect to be meaningful.
Welcome to Mindfully Messy Life.
